The project will renovate Plaza Poeta Alfonso Canales, the connection with Calle Casas de Campos, and the frontage alongside the Marina.

The Municipal Urban Planning Department has awarded the second phase of the urban adaptation of Malaga’s Soho district to the construction firm IELCO. The project represents an investment of some 465,000 euros, co-financed with ERDF funds, and will serve to renew Plaza Poeta Alfonso Canales, the connection with Calle Casas de Campos, and the frontage alongside the Marina.

The aim is to increase the current parkland area, linking the Plaza de la Marina directly to the entrance to the city port, making it more accessible. This will serve to complete the urban enhancement of the Soho area which began with the work to pedestrianise Calle Tomás de Heredia, Calle Casas de Campo and Calle Duquesa de Parcent, recently performed by the company COSPEL.

This second phase has an execution period of five months, and is scheduled to begin in mid-September. Malaga City Council’s aim through this initiative is to give greater dynamism to the Ensanche de Heredia district and to promote cultural and artistic ventures.

A company with an international presence

IELCO is a company dedicated to the performance of civil engineering and building projects within and beyond the province of Malaga. The firm has already taken part in similar projects of such significance for the city as the pedestrianisation of Calle Larios. It recently celebrated its 25th birthday by setting up its first headquarters in Qatar.
